Choosing a new mobile phone

Von , 21. Februar 2013 10:53

From time to time, exactly every 2 years customers have to choose between quit or extending the mobile contract. The business terms of t-mobile been fine and when extending the next choose will be between invoice credit or a new phone. Mostly my decision had been the new phone, but which one ?

The technical data was discussed alot and I’ll not repeat it here. I hadn’t experience with the Microsoft Windows 8 OS until now and no time to test. Still Android and iOS on the list. The new Nexus and the Sony Xperia Z wasn’t available at the time of ordering and the other competitors are to heavy in their dimensions for a mobile phone. Decision between Android, iOS and Windows 8 was a neck-and-neck race and the key point had been the invested money in Apps. Binding the hardware and the software in the way Apple does makes it some kind of difficult to change the operation system.

iPhone 5 slims in weight and is still good-looking, overall a good decision.

Samsung Advertisment – Lost on Apple Maps

Von , 13. Dezember 2012 09:05

The good news, Apple and Google seems to be friends again. The google maps app is still back to iOS 6. But Samsung uses the map ‘problem’ of iOS to place a funny advertisment in Australia.

Von , 27. November 2012 11:09

Control your light environment from your iPhone or iPad. The starter pack is available for 199$ and in Germany for 199€ via the Apple online store. I’m not aware of the opportunity to buy them in the retail store, but maybe they have the Hue in stock too.

Light automation without the need for an additional home house bus system like KNX / EIB for example.

KNX is a standardized (EN 50090, ISO/IEC 14543), OSI-based network communications protocol for intelligent buildings. KNX is the successor to, and convergence of, three previous standards: the European Home Systems Protocol (EHS), BâtiBUS, and the European Installation Bus (EIB or Instabus). The KNX standard is administered by the KNX Association.”

Body monitoring – the IP cam by Withings

Von , 25. Februar 2012 15:15

One of our devices is the IP cam inventedbay Withings as a baby monitor. It’s a nice device with features like night vision, temperature and humanity logging. It can alarm at accaustic or visionary interrupts (crying or moving, but I like the interrupt description).

One essential feature is missing, the use with other devices than iOS apple mobiles with the withings app.

VW Golf 6 Media-In Adapter – iPhone

Von , 18. Juni 2011 11:51

http://www.volkswagen-zubehoer-shop.de/shop/product_info.php?info=p87_iPod-Adapter-fuer-MEDIA-IN.html

In combination with the VW radio RCD-310 my Golf 6 Team Edition can use the iPhone as the media storage device. When buying my car a USB to Media-In-Adapter was included.

The radio button are used to control the iPhone media and the hands are free for driving. When connecting the iphone with the media-in adapter in the middle console the external device was detected, but an error appears on the iPhone screen that the external device is not verified by Apple and can result in sound problems.

Volkswagen has an update on the website to update the radio.

I’m still locking forward the day we can update our car with an new firmeware by ourself.

Personaly I haven’t experienced any sound or other problems. It’s still low priced an can be bought for 36,20 online at the VW e-shop or the local VW dealer.

iOS 5 Opens Door to True 1080p Apple TV

Von , 11. Juni 2011 11:27

“iOS 5 appears to unlock new 1080p capabilities for the iPad 2, allowing video in the 1080p format to be synced and played directly on the device. While the iPad 2 is of course unable to directly display full 1080p content on its own screen, many users are interested in outputting such content to larger screens, and it also opens the door to a true 1080p Apple TV. ”

Unpacking of Apple TV

Von , 10. Juni 2011 12:22

I feel some kind of growing addiction  to apple products and that’s not for their open source philosophy, but indeed their products are damn well designed.
For me all began with the iPhone and now even a Macbook Pro becomes an option.
But I own a lot of other devices with other OSs on it, so it’s a real Ying/Yang hard- / software coexistence.

Correction, my first apple device was the ipod 2 black with 8GB and it’s still doing a great job in holidays on 15 and more hour flights.

iphone 4 – 3 month experience

Von , 14. Dezember 2010 09:02

After 3 month experience with the Iphone 4 I’m really happy to upgrade from the Iphone classic. Only one time in Bern/Switzerland calling wasn’t possible, even with the bumper. But this was maybe a roaming problem. And the retina display is extraordinary beauty.

How do you hold your Nokia?

Von , 30. Juni 2010 12:09

Personally I’m still unsure if I upgrade to the new iPhone, because I like to hold my phone in different ways. But the nokia article is very amusing.

“We’ve been looking around and noticed there are many ways to hold your Nokia device. Whether you’re left-handed or right-handed, there’s no shortage of ways to hold your phone.”

iPad availability in Germany

Von , 28. Mai 2010 17:30

Today the selling of the Apple iPad started in Germany. The units are very rare in the shops, so unfortunatly not everyone can buy one. So my spontaniously idea to order or buy one direct in the nearest Apple store in Hamburg was break through unavailability of a iPad for me. So the process of analyse the need for buying and owning that device starts. Ok the same process had happened with the iPhone before I decided to bought it. The really best benefit of the iDevices is the astronomical (just a image ;-) ) mass of Apps. Anyone with reallife experience and good advices ?

DIY Apple I clone – replica I

Von , 17. August 2009 16:57

For those who’re to young for an original apple bought in the shop, here is the ultimative chance to get their own one

The replica 1 is a functional clone of the apple 1 computer created by Steve Wozniak in 1976. This was the computer that Steve Jobs and Woz used to start Apple Computers in 1976. The latest version of the replica 1 is labeled SE for Second Edition. The replica 1 functions exactly like the apple 1 with many of the same components like a 6502 CPU and 6821 PIA. It comes with 32K RAM and 8K EEPROM. Addtional features like a ps/2 port, serial, USB port, ATX and DC wall power supply connectors makes the replica 1 a fully functional computer system for todays collector or hobby builder. Available as a kit or assembled, the replica 1 is sure to give you hours of fun and excitement as you relive the glory days of computing. As a new feature, a full blown assembler called Krusader written by Ken Wessen was added to the EPROM space giving the user the ability to assembler 6502 programs right on the replica 1 without a PC. Write 6502 machine code programs using mnemonics instead of just programming hex code into the memory. This added programming tool makes the repica 1 not only a nostalgic computer but a great learning tool and introduction to microprocessors.”

iPhone Aktivierung zur Zeit nicht möglich

Von , 2. Mai 2008 14:41
