Choosing a new mobile phone

Von , 21. Februar 2013 10:53

From time to time, exactly every 2 years customers have to choose between quit or extending the mobile contract. The business terms of t-mobile been fine and when extending the next choose will be between invoice credit or a new phone. Mostly my decision had been the new phone, but which one ?

The technical data was discussed alot and I’ll not repeat it here. I hadn’t experience with the Microsoft Windows 8 OS until now and no time to test. Still Android and iOS on the list. The new Nexus and the Sony Xperia Z wasn’t available at the time of ordering and the other competitors are to heavy in their dimensions for a mobile phone. Decision between Android, iOS and Windows 8 was a neck-and-neck race and the key point had been the invested money in Apps. Binding the hardware and the software in the way Apple does makes it some kind of difficult to change the operation system.

iPhone 5 slims in weight and is still good-looking, overall a good decision.

Home automation with iOS – WeMo from Belkin

Von , 27. November 2012 11:16

Another nice device offered in the Belkin store is the WeMo. The category is Connected Home and they offer an WeMO Baby device, which looks interesting and it’s worth further attentation.

http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F7C027

“Finally, Your Home Gets Its Own App

The Belkin WeMo Switch, lets you turn electronic devices on or off from anywhere inside–or outside–your home. The WeMo Switch uses your existing home Wi-Fi network to provide wireless control of TVs, lamps, stereos, and more. Simply download the free WeMo app, plug the switch into an outlet in your home, and plug any device into the switch. You’ll be able to turn that device on or off using your iPhone or iPad. You can even set schedules for your devices and control them remotely using a mobile Internet connection. You can also add additional switches to your home to control more devices.”

The good news, the WeMo is offered with european standard switch too and the price of 49 € is awesome. Buy the way, while looking around the belkin shop, I spot a few really nice products.

Ambient Light – Philips Hue control your light environment from your iPhone or iPad

Von , 27. November 2012 11:09

Control your light environment from your iPhone or iPad. The starter pack is available for 199$ and in Germany for 199€ via the Apple online store. I’m not aware of the opportunity to buy them in the retail store, but maybe they have the Hue in stock too.

Light automation without the need for an additional home house bus system like KNX / EIB for example.

KNX is a standardized (EN 50090, ISO/IEC 14543), OSI-based network communications protocol for intelligent buildings. KNX is the successor to, and convergence of, three previous standards: the European Home Systems Protocol (EHS), BâtiBUS, and the European Installation Bus (EIB or Instabus). The KNX standard is administered by the KNX Association.”

iPad3 mobile data solution

Von , 29. März 2012 13:21

For my iPad one I bought an O2 data package with a very fair price. 200 MB data cost just 10 €.

But additionaly the offer had another plus, the 10€ are only charged when you use the mobile net of O2 in a month.

Otherwise nothing is charged. Unlicely I can’t find that data package on the O2 website anymore.

I’m searching for a data package with approximatly 500 – 1000 MB and 7.2 MBit/s. The datarate should be reduced after reaching the data limit.

No mobile provider had the pay just when you use option.

A fair price for such a data package would be 15 € in my opinion.

One possible offer was from FYVE – Prepaid Smartphone Surfen für 5,- € im Monat. which is still interesting and worth testing.

Another possible one could be from Congster, Endlos mobil surfen und günstig telefonieren für sensationelle 9,99 EUR/ Monat. hmm ?!?

Body monitoring – the IP cam by Withings

Von , 25. Februar 2012 15:15

One of our devices is the IP cam inventedbay Withings as a baby monitor. It’s a nice device with features like night vision, temperature and humanity logging. It can alarm at accaustic or visionary interrupts (crying or moving, but I like the interrupt description).

One essential feature is missing, the use with other devices than iOS apple mobiles with the withings app.

Body monitoring

Von , 25. Februar 2012 15:08

The medisana tragetscale was a new possible candidate for a bathroom scale. Now the withings or medisana scale will be the scale of chose. I’ m not sure at the moment which one I prefere. The withing scale will be available in white an black. The medisana has some funny light features and look very spacy with that feature.

By the way editing text for the blog is some kind of pain in the a.. With the iPad.

iOS 5 Opens Door to True 1080p Apple TV

Von , 11. Juni 2011 11:27

“iOS 5 appears to unlock new 1080p capabilities for the iPad 2, allowing video in the 1080p format to be synced and played directly on the device. While the iPad 2 is of course unable to directly display full 1080p content on its own screen, many users are interested in outputting such content to larger screens, and it also opens the door to a true 1080p Apple TV. ”

Unpacking of Apple TV

Von , 10. Juni 2011 12:22

I feel some kind of growing addiction  to apple products and that’s not for their open source philosophy, but indeed their products are damn well designed.
For me all began with the iPhone and now even a Macbook Pro becomes an option.
But I own a lot of other devices with other OSs on it, so it’s a real Ying/Yang hard- / software coexistence.

Correction, my first apple device was the ipod 2 black with 8GB and it’s still doing a great job in holidays on 15 and more hour flights.

Ortsunabhängiges Projektmanagementtool – Projectplace iPhone App

Von , 19. April 2011 09:21

[Trigami-Review]

iphone 4 – 3 month experience

Von , 14. Dezember 2010 09:02

After 3 month experience with the Iphone 4 I’m really happy to upgrade from the Iphone classic. Only one time in Bern/Switzerland calling wasn’t possible, even with the bumper. But this was maybe a roaming problem. And the retina display is extraordinary beauty.
