Rather than ordering online in the Apple store I bought my new gadget in real life at a Gravis store . It was a spontanously decision, because I see online that gravis had the 64GB wifi/3G model in stock at their stores. So up the city and no available parkingplace – grrr. After a roundtrip trough the city I managed to get a place and finaly 830 € later I’ve my IPad and a letter case from Networx, because of the lack of original leather cases from Apple – another grr. But my first impression of the case is quit good. It’s from the design point of view like some kind of a filoflex.
It really works. I love him, it’s so much fun to see him vacuum clean the floor. The action noise is absolute ok and didn’t disturb me by office work. You can even telephone while he’s working. Why I didn’t bought one earlier ? The decision for the 520 model was for testing reasons and because of comments at online forums. The price for the 520 was just 280 € and it is worth every cent.
Personally I’m still unsure if I upgrade to the new iPhone, because I like to hold my phone in different ways. But the nokia article is very amusing.
“We’ve been looking around and noticed there are many ways to hold your Nokia device. Whether you’re left-handed or right-handed, there’s no shortage of ways to hold your phone.”
Today the selling of the Apple iPad started in Germany. The units are very rare in the shops, so unfortunatly not everyone can buy one. So my spontaniously idea to order or buy one direct in the nearest Apple store in Hamburg was break through unavailability of a iPad for me. So the process of analyse the need for buying and owning that device starts. Ok the same process had happened with the iPhone before I decided to bought it. The really best benefit of the iDevices is the astronomical (just a image ) mass of Apps. Anyone with reallife experience and good advices ?
Today I received a Seagate 500 GB HDD from Netgear. It’s part of a promotion for the ReadyNASDuo series. I bought a ReadyNASDuo RND2000 diskless, because I’ve a 500 GB HDD lying around unused. Thanks Netgear the second one is for free. The ReadyNASDuo is a really nice device with great features.

Everyone heared about the Arduino for Atmel. Now it’s posible to work with the modern PIC and use a arduino like board, the Jaluino.
“JAL (Just Another Language, version 2) is an open source programming language built for programming PIC microcontrollers. If electronics is your thing, JAL is for you!”
That’s cool, on http://blog.section9.co.uk/2010/03/iphone-rfid-reader.html you can see the work process in pictures. The RFID chip is from http://www.id-innovations.com/new%20launch.htm.
“The idea behind this project is to see what the iPhone’s serial is capable of and to try and have a little fun with RFID along the way. This reader works with the low frequency (125Khz) tags but I have a half working version for MiFARE Hi-Frequency as well.”
For just $49 you can start with mobile development. And yes the watch shows the time out of the box.
“Overview
The eZ430-Chronos is a highly integrated, wireless development system based for the CC430 in a sports watch. It may be used as a reference platform for watch systems, a personal display for personal area networks, or as a wireless sensor node for remote data collection.
Based on the CC430F6137<1 GHz RF SoC, the eZ430-Chronos is a complete CC430-based development system contained in a watch. This tool features a 96 segment LCD display and provides an integrated pressure sensor and 3-axis accelerometer for motion sensitive control. The integrated wireless feature allows the Chronos to act as a central hub for nearby wireless sensors such as pedometers and heart rate monitors. The eZ430-Chronos offers temperatureand battery voltage measurement and is complete with a USB-based CC1111 wireless interface to a PC.
The eZ430-Chronos watch may be disassembled to be reprogrammed with a custom application and includes an eZ430 USB programming interface.
What’s Included:
eZ430-Chronos wireless watch
eZ430 USB programming and debugging interface
CC1111 USB RF access point
Mini Phillips screwdriver
CD containing documentation and development software”
My choose is the VentureSafe 25l Daypack from pac-safe.com. It’s a really good looking bag with Anti-Theft features and an extra laptop sleeve for the netbook.
It’s very ergonomic and comfortable to wear. I orderd the bag from my favorite outdoor specialist www.globetrotter.de. Only one day after placing the order online the package arrived. I hope that I don’t need to test the Anti-Theft features in real situations, but it’s good to know that it has it.

A beginner’s reference to the programming syntax of the Arduino microcontroller.Includes information on program structure, variables, datatypes, arithmetic, constants, flow control, and most of the common functions of the core library. Also includes an appendix with schematics and simple programs for several common tasks.

“The Dunning–Kruger effect is an example of cognitive bias in which “people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it”.[1] They therefore suffer an illusory superiority, rating their own ability as above average. This leads to a perverse result where less competent people will rate their own ability higher than relatively more competent people. It also explains why actual competence may weaken self-confidence because competent individuals falsely assume that others have an equivalent understanding. “Thus, the miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others.”
